CABI History
CABI began as the Canton Association of Industry in 1972 in an effort to mobilize businesses, uniting business owners and community leaders for economic growth. During the decades that followed, CABI served as a voice to town government, helping to implement key development and taxation measures for a stronger business climate. In the 40+ years since the organization began, Canton’s population has increased by more than 17% with 19% more voters. The town budget has grown to nearly nine times the budget in 1972 and assessed property valuation, then $165 million, now tops $4 billion. While Canton’s economy has shifted over the years from primarily industrial to green technologies and corporate headquarters, CABI continues to serve as an advocate for businesses within the community and a strong supporter of civic and social projects to promote the local economy and create a place residents love to live.
